Seven Nights in a Rogue's Bed

Desperate to save her sister's life, Sidonie Forsythe has agreed to submit herself to a terrible fate: Beyond the foreboding walls of Castle Craven, a notorious, hideously scarred scoundrel will take her virtue over the course of seven sinful nights. Yet instead of a monster, she encounters a man like no other. And during this week, she comes to care for Jonas Merrick in ways that defy all logic-even as a dark secret she carries threatens them both.

Ruthless loner Jonas knows exactly who he is. Should he forget, even for a moment, the curse he bears, a mere glance in the mirror serves as an agonizing reminder. So when the lovely Sidonie turns up on his doorstep, her seduction is an even more delicious prospect than he originally planned. But the hardened outcast is soon moved by her innocent beauty, sharp wit, and surprising courage. Now as dangerous enemies gather at the gate to destroy them, can their new, fragile love survive?

Wow, Campbell really knows how to pack an emotional punch. Throughout most of the book I felt as though I was living the characters life and I loved it. The love scenes were so emotional with so many components thrown in, making the characters join body and soul.

Campbell is a particular author with a writing style that just wont appeal to everyone especially when she makes the hero out to be an absolute ass, however that is what she does best. I love Campbell's bad ass hero's.

For Desire Alone

A mistress should never be foolish enough to fall in love with her protector, nor trust him with her financial future. Mariah Desmond did both, and now her dearly departed protector has left her with nothing. Forced to seek another protector, she's determined that this time, she'll lead with her survival instinct—not her heart. But when she attends one of Vivien Manning's infamous parties, the familiar face of her late lover's best friend throws her for a loop. A painful past taught John Rycroft that he's not fit to be anyone's knight in shining armor. His soft spot—make that a hard spot—for Mariah is precisely why he's kept his distance. Yet the sight of her flirting with a bevy of men vying to become her next lover makes something inside him snap. As John hauls her bodily away from her suitors, Mariah's indignation melts away in the heat of the sizzling sexual chemistry. She quickly finds it isn't easy to navigate John's stormy emotional waters. Especially when his abusive father's quest to get his son back under his thumb puts her life in danger.

I enjoyed this second instalment to the 'Mistress Matchmaker' series by Jess Michaels. Definitely a standalone which is great for those whom haven't read the first book. I was actually surprised that the blurb pretty much tells you all you need to know about this book. I liked both John and Mariah with great character development. I liked it that although Mariah is a courtesan, she is still quite naive when it comes to relationships and love, somehow giving her a touch of vulnerability. The sex scenes suited the story to a-T.

Twin Passions

Twin PassionsTwin Passions by Miriam Minger

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A captivating story. Both Gwendolyn and Anora are very different in character but I just loved how their love for each other is refreshing and powerful. I really enjoyed this story, sucked me in from the very beginning. A well worth read!

The Wicked Wedding of Miss Ellie Vyne

By night Ellie Vyne fleeces unsuspecting aristocrats as the dashing Count de Bonneville. By day she avoids her sisters' matchmaking schemes and dreams up torments for her childhood nemesis—the arrogant, far-too-handsome-for-his-own-good James Hartley. Her latest prank: "winning" the Hartley diamonds in a card game from James's mistress.

James finally has a lead on the thieving Count de Bonneville, tracking him to a disreputable inn. He bursts in on none other than the brazen, irritating, nearly naked Ellie Vyne. Convinced she is the count's mistress, James decides it's best to keep his enemies close. Very close. He must get those diamonds back, and seducing Ellie will be the perfect bait.

Review:
What a cute story this is, fast passed with a lovely romantic ending. I really enjoyed watching James try to keep up with Ellie, as she was a bit wild. A perfect fun couple I say. I definitely recommend this story as it is lots of fun read.

Sweet Surrender

Under Faith Malone's deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants: a strong man who'll take without asking - because she's willing to give him everything...

Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner and bring him to justice. So far, he's found a link between the killer and Faith - and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it.

Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she's playing games. No way would she allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?

Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it's no game she's playing. She's willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner's killer has to be his first priority - until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her...

Review as on Goodreads by Sassy Amy:
Wow! Much better than the Fifty Shades series! Written before it & this Gray came first! Go figure!!

So Gray is trying to catch his partner's murderer. Faith's mother is living with the man Gray is after. He takes leave from th police department in Dallas & goes to work for Faith's adoptive father at his security firm under the pretense of getting close to Faith to catch the mother leading to her lover.

Faith as it turns out is an innocent victim of her mother & Gray decides he needs to protect her. She wants to be dominated. He wants to dominate... Sooo it happens!

I loved it! I was so embarrassed for her a few times, I felt her frustration & then it got HOT! All in all it was great!

The Bridegroom Wore Plaid

In an effort to preserve the family estate, Ian MacGregor, the Earl of Balfour, must marry for money. When a promising match emerges in the form of Genie Daniels, a rich English heiress, Ian begins devising a strategy to woo her. When he meets Genie's poor cousin Augusta, he discovers a new avenue to Genie's heart. But after spending time with Augusta and falling for her charms, Ian begins to question whether or not he's willing to forfeit his heart to save the family name…

Review:

There are three other romances weaving through the main one involving Augusta and Ian's families. All short but very satisfying.
Both Ian and Augusta are likeable characters. Ian is extremely devoted to his family and Augusta once a wealthy woman now penniless, making the most of her situation. And of course love blooms!

Maybe a bit over the top having four MacGregors marrying four Danieles and the villain was super evil.

A recommendable read.

The Scottish Witch

Portia Maclean believes she is beyond love and marriage. Then one moonlit night, while attempting a daring masquerade in a desperate bid to protect her family, she finds herself swept off her feet by a powerful stranger. But what will he do once he discovers she has betrayed him?

Harry Chattan is fighting for his family. For two hundred years the Chattan men have been destroyed by love . . . and now he's come to Scotland on the hunt for a witch to break the curse. Instead he finds himself bewitched by Portia. Harry has vowed to fight the demons that torture him.

But will that battle destroy her as well?

Review:

When compared to the first book in the series, this one is definitely slower paced however still quite compelling, heartfelt with a nice mix of characters. Portia is a very family orientated woman, devoted and headstrong as well as a good provider. Harry doesn't fall short off the mark, even though not expected of him. His love for his brother is overwhelming and beautiful. Both characters showed so much love for their family - a joy to read.

Can't wait for the next book in the series, The Devil's Heart: The Chattan Curse.

Seducing Mr.Knightly

For ages, it seems, advice columnist Annabelle Swift has loved Derek Knightly, editor-owner of The London Weekly, from a distance. Determined to finally attract her boss's attention, she seeks advice from her loyal readers—who offer Annabelle myriad suggestions . . . from lower-cut bodices (success!) and sultry gazes (disaster!) to a surprise midnight rendezvous (wicked!).

Derek never really took note of his shy, wallflower lady writer. But suddenly she's exquisite . . . and he can't get Annabelle out of his mind! She must be pursuing someone, but who? For some inexplicable reason, the thought of her with another man makes Knightly insanely jealous.

Review:
A refreshing fun story filled with change and growth as well as heaps of laugh out loud moments. Absolutely loved the characters, especially Annabelle- a courages woman and Derek Knightly- what a hero!

This one is filled with heart and is not to be missed.

A Most Naked Solution

Lady Sophia Harding: beautiful, blond, and . . . capable of murder? That's what Lord Camden Grey intends to find out. It is Camden's duty to uphold the laws of the land. His neighbor's pale beauty and winsome grace don't make her the most likely suspect, but is the innocent and altogether beguiling look in her eyes the truth, or is she secretly a scheming seductress?
Lord Camden Grey is entirely too distracting and too smart. Sophia knows that to keep her family's secrets, she must avoid any entanglements with the powerful and brutally handsome man. But the pull of their mutual desire is all-consuming. Can Sophia trust Camden with the truth when she knows it might kill the love that has grown between them?

Review:
Another short story with lots of potential for more character and plot development, still the author did bring into play Sophia and Camden quite nicely, enough so that it left me wanting to read more.
Sorry this wasn't a full length book but it was still a good read.

The Devil's Thief

The daughter of a reformed jewel thief, Julianna Harte knows a thing or two about stealth. When the foundling home she provides for finds itself in dire financial straits, Julianna is forced to do the unthinkable. In a bit of misguided Robin Hood derring-do, she slips through the window of a wealthy rake to search for a treasure she knows is there: an invaluable pearl. But when the towering and very naked occupant of the moonlit bedroom ambushes her with a bargain—a night in his bed in exchange for the pearl—Julianna doesn't know if it's masculine heat or sheer desperation that makes his terms so tempting.

Alasdair Sharpe had no intention of keeping his end of the bargain. Planning to offer his little cat burglar carte blanche instead, he promptly loses himself in the delights of unexpected pleasure. But when he awakes the next morning to find his family heirloom gone, fury quickly replaces sensual languor. Of course, Alasdair is more than willing to use seduction to reclaim his stolen pearl—and find the key to Julianna's heart.

Review:
I got through this one quite quickly, no more than an hour. I will admit that the plot is absolutely horrible, however the sex...oh lala!.... Hot, Hot, Hot. Alasdair and Julianna could not be any more deserving of each other, you must read to understand what I mean.
